Construction of an intermodal center in Oristano to unite and centralize different means of transport in the region. Urban reconversion of the railway sector of the station.
The future intermodal center of Oristano in Sardinia is configured as a transition system between two parts of the municipality, of the territory: one urban and defined (the station square) and another extra-urban and rural that is the object of a necessary expansion to enhance the regional transport networks (buses, trains and connections with the fast roads), with specific requirements.
For this reason, the architectural project itself adapts to the transformation from a more rigid and traditionally urban composition on one side of the tracks, to another more fragmented and close to the criteria of landscape design. The ultimate objective is to create a platform of relationship between the built landscape and the natural landscape, today non-existent due to the passage of the train tracks, and to make it compatible with the needs of improvement and expansion of all the transport services involved.
