Memory

A plot on the upper threshold of the Sarrià neighborhood, on the urban edge of Barcelona. Two disparate slopes on the same site: to the northwest, higher elevation, with the Ronda road above and to the southeast, with a leafy Pineda with a difference in height of between 4 and 5 meters. Two differentiated facade faces as a response: one of zinc closed to the northwest and one of aluminum mesh open for the south face. Terraces and Alicante shutters allow the creation of external transition spaces with climate control without exceeding the permitted interior buildability, granting an external relational space to each residential unit.

The cooperative has encouraged the operation of a completely open upper pedestrian connection, an access square to the homes, an outdoor parking lot and a viewpoint open to the city. On the lower floor there are warehouses, general services and facilities and above all, cooperative spaces, with direct connection to the Pineda and the upper level of the Joan Raventós Park. The other large outdoor space, the roof, is a place for meeting and resting, with urban gardens, pergolas and benches for the community.

The building has a central atrium and vertical communications core that crosses all the uses of the community, from the roof to the basement. It is the relational space of the community that distributes to the private homes through open walkways. Climatically it will be a semi-open space with automated control and gradation of the renovation of the environment through gates at the roof and ground floor meetings. Solar panels, geothermal energy and pre-installation for a wind turbine and photovoltaic panels in future phases of the project have been implemented, depending on the economic means or the viability of the investment.

Constructively, it is a mixed proposal. Reinforced concrete defines the excavation and support of the land, pillars to support the entire ground floor and the roof. In the central strip, a three-dimensional isotropic wooden frame of 3×3 that brings together the residential floors. The entire proposal is modular, with an open and metamorphic configuration, with a regular rhythm to allow exchanges and modifications of the residential space.

The typologies of housing (S, M, L) correspond to additions from the simple type of 4 sub-structural units. The enclosures between housing will be dry and mechanized on the structure, with great speed of construction and subsequent modification.
