The project for the new “Transformadors” facility links the needs of the proposed functional program and, at the same time, attempts to make a sensitive approach to the historical past of this building and the social needs to which it has been linked until, for structural reasons, it fell into disuse in 2008.
The project articulates the required program and the urban requirements of the plot, with the aim of gaining the maximum surface area for youth organizations. The existence of an underground floor allows the program and the logic of preservation of the existing construction to be reviewed. The building is crowned with a gable roof that, through a central cut, allows light to enter the interior of the facility.
The various spatial solutions foresee possible changes in use of the building or some of its parts. The structure, materials, location of the light courtyards, vertical communication hubs and service areas have as their preeminent premise the functional versatility of the building without affecting circulation, accessibility and evacuation routes on each and every floor.
