The promoters of the project needed a new conditioning of the existing house, of a humble and simple nature, to adapt it to the current needs of the family and to modern comfort standards. The commission was specified in the reform of the first floor and an access and hall space on the ground floor. The transversal section and roof of the building was also reformed to accommodate some running skylights that provide light to the center of the house, where an open distributor is available that solves the interior circulations.
The suitability of the enclave was one of the main challenges of the project. The predominant views of the house dominate the agricultural landscape of the Penedès, including the developer’s own plot, fully integrated into the municipality and the territory.
The first-floor façades are modified to define new openings for the room and the rooms on the rear façade. Two lateral openings on the east façade, with solid ailerons, have just provided lighting to the darkest spaces of the habitable volume and block desired visuals.
The equipment of the house has been expressly designed for this project, including the lights and a fireplace that organizes the common spaces around it. The kitchen has guillotine panels to join or become independent from the living-dining room space. The interior distributor is open by means of a linear shelf, on the one hand, and some facings covered with birch wood, on the other, which give access to the rooms. These have mobile panels to allow the summing of spaces and multiply the unconventional uses of spaces. The house has a large balcony running in front of the living room, protected by a succession of roller shutters from Alicante that allow a gradation of the south sun, very important in the place.
