The criterion for distributing objects follows the precepts of Feng Shui and the symbolic correspondence between the cardinal points and the materials used. The wooden objects are located on the east side, the metal ones on the west and the mother-of-pearl seats, as well as the ceramic pots, are in the central area, defining the earth element. The central space is a meeting point for visitors and at the same time, an opportunity to verify the sound of the bells that will spread their sound throughout the exhibition.
The criterion for displaying the objects aims to value the material from which they are made. The objects are presented on supports conceived as islands, freely placed on a white ground, adapted in this case to the second floor of the Milan Triennale, but easily modifiable in case the exhibition has to be itinerant. The supports must be as functional in the exhibition’s itinerary as possible.
The message of the exhibition indicates both the origin of the country’s artisan tradition and the desire to explain current manufacturing methods.
